Sainik School Entrance Exam 2023-24: Merit List

Sainik School Entrance Exam 2023-24 Class 6 – Qualifying Marks
Students must receive a minimum of 25% in each topic and a minimum of 40% overall to pass the Sainik school entrance exam 2023-24 class 6. Nevertheless, passing the AISSEE 2023-24 entrance exam does not ensure selection for the medical exam. However, there is no minimum score requirement for candidates in the ST & SC category.

Admission to these schools will be based on e-counselling based on AISSEE 2023-24 rank, medical fitness determined by appropriate medical authorities, and original document verification. 40% route: 40% of seats are solely filled based on student performance in the AISSEE 2024. No requests for residence or categories are taken into account.
60% route: Students currently enrolled in one of the authorized NSSs will occupy 60% of the available seats. They will be filled based on the student’s placement on the school-specific merit list. No requests for residence or categories are taken into account.

AISSEE 2022 Results

The results are yet to be announced for the year 2022. After the publication of the merit list, the qualified candidates will be invited via call letters for the next process – the interview round and the medical exam. The candidates can check the written exam results on the official website by logging in to their portals.

Selection Process of Sainik School Entrance Exam 2022

The minimum qualifying marks for General Category students and children of Ex-servicemen or Defence Personnel is 25% in each subject with 40% aggregate unless amended or revised.

In the case of ST or SC candidates, the minimum qualifying marks are not required and they will be admitted based on the basis of inter se merit. If an SC/ST candidate comes in the general merit, he will be admitted against the general seat and won’t be adjusted against the reserved share of SC/ST seats.

Interview Process

Merit-qualified candidates are required to appear for the interview round via official call letters sent by the admission department. The interview is like the SSB pattern where the candidate will be assessed on a number of grounds from knowledge and aptitude to communication skills.

Medical Exam

Before the admissions, the candidates will have to go through a medical examination by the military hospitals. They will be screened for any physical ailments that may affect their performance in the academy.

The final list (with names and roll numbers) will be out soon after the medical exam is conducted. The list will also have the names of waitlisted candidates.

AISSEE Reservations

  • 15% of the total seats will be reserved for SC and 7.5% seats for ST.
  • 67% of the seats will be reserved for the children from the states where the Sainik Schools are located.
  • The remaining 33% of seats will be open for children from other Union Territories and States.
  • Any unutilized seats in this category will be merged with home state seats.
  • 25% of the seats are reserved for children of Defence Service personnel (including Ex-Servicemen).

All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) every year (in January).  This exam is conducted to select deserving candidates for admission to class VI and IX in 33 Sainik Schools across the country.  Sainik Schools are English medium residential schools affiliated to CBSE.  They prepare cadets to join the National Defence Academy (NDA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and other Training Academies for officers.

Eligibility for admission in class VI The candidate should be between 10 and 12 years as of the last day of March of the admission year. Admission for Girls is open in Class-VI only in all Sainik Schools.
Eligibility for admission in class IX The candidate should be between 13 and 15 years as of the last day of March of admission year and should have passed Class VIII, from a recognized school, at the time of admission.

Passing Marks for Admission

A candidate is eligible for admission to the Sainik Schools if he/ she secures a minimum of 25% marks in each subject of the exam and 40% marks in aggregate of all the subjects of AISSEE 2021. However, admission will be based on relative merit (in AISSEE) of the candidate in his/ her category in the school opted by him/ her, medical fitness, and verification of requisite documents. However, no minimum marks are prescribed for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe category. They will be admitted on the basis of inter-se merit at the Entrance Examination within their respective categories, subject to medical fitness and verification of requisite documents.
